Are you a dynamic and resourceful professional with a proven track record of animal based welfare? If so, then our client is looking for people to join their team of Donkey Welfare Advisers.

Position: Donkey Welfare Adviser

Location: There are three Field based roles available covering:

 

  • Derbyshire, Cheshire and the North West of England (full-time 37.5 hours per week)
  • Central and South Wales (full-time 37.5 hours per week)
  • Cumbria, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear (part-time 32 hours per week)

 

Salary: £33,500 per annum (pro-rata for part-time role)

Duration: Permanent full-time & Permanent part-time

Hours: full-time – 37.5 hours per week full time, 32 hours per week part-time

Benefits: Generous annual leave, pension scheme, Healthshield plan, confidential counselling service, subsidised restaurant, free parking, sick pay, enhanced maternity/paternity benefits, Life Assurance Scheme, 31 days holiday per year, inclusive of the 8 statutory public holidays. This increases by one day each year until a maximum of 34 days is reached (pro rata for part-time role)

Interviews: Thursday 11th or Friday 12th April 2019 at the Donkey Sanctuary Derbyshire Centre, near Buxton, Derbyshire.

The Role

The Donkey Welfare Adviser is a professional in the field of donkey and mule welfare. They will play a key front line role in the work of our client: responding to donkeys in need, growing and managing a high quality rehoming scheme and acting as an ambassador for the charity at all times.

The Donkey Welfare Adviser requires excellent people skills and hands on field based work where a high level of equine knowledge and practical experience of applying animal welfare legislation is essential.

About You

You will be a positive influencer and represent the charity, promoting and modelling their values in all areas of your work.

You will

 

  • have a high level of equine knowledge and have worked practically with equines
  • have knowledge of legal practicalities and experience of the application of relevant animal welfare legislation and an understanding of equine behaviour and be able to demonstrate practical delivery of this in the field
  • be fully conversant with IT hardware and software equipment, so as to keep colleagues and HQ regularly updated and the ability to input into databases and systems, for example in uploading photographic and video images to support welfare cases
  • have competent IT skills (proficient in Word, Outlook and Excel)
  • be an excellent communicator who is able to demonstrate these skills to a variety of audiences in a variety of mediums, including presenting to small and large groups
  • have a Full valid driving licence.
  • be passionate about equine welfare
  • recognises the importance of customer service and strives to deliver high standards
