About the role:

Developers form part of their busy and motivated Digital Development team and are responsible for writing and maintaining code for their Drupal web sites and web applications. The work is Drupal focused including module development, test writing, configuration, front end development (including JS & CSS / Sass), and learning. They are looking for previous professional experience and a demonstrated technical skillset. The role also requires excellent communication skills. Team members work closely together and also have direct contact with the business side of projects and must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly with technical and non-technical stakeholders in both written and verbal interactions. This role will work with the team and project manager to ensure on time delivery.

The role also requires maintaining Jira tickets and producing fully commented and documented code that meets our functional and non-functional requirements. Additionally, you will also produce and help maintain acceptance criteria and tests used within their continuous integration environment. The role will be encouraged to take an active part in the Drupal community and contribute to industry projects, forums, or the Open Charity user group. They encourage and expect you to constantly improve your knowledge to keep up with new technologies and innovations.

About the team:

The Digital Development Team is comprised of Dev, UX, QA, and PM roles and sits within their larger Technology area. They work in an agile environment to deliver concurrent projects along several streams of internal clients. They take a full stack view to site and application development and manage most of their work with the Atlassian suite of products, but are constantly looking out for new ways to work more efficiently as a team. The team takes ownership of not only sites and code, but also the environments, hosting, CI / CD, and testing.

About you:

You will succeed in this role because you have strong background in web development including a complete understanding of the Drupal CMS and have worked on several projects that depended on full stack development. You are a coder and prefer PHP code commits instead of admin UI screens. You have seen various development environments and have strong opinions on methodologies and coding practices. You also have a proven track record of working in team environments where communication is critical and others are depending on your work.

Do you have a portfolio of past work can be seen in open source commits and in currently deployed sites? They'd love to see those too.

About the Charity:

Every day brings new challenges at our client. Every day, over 600 seriously ill children from across the UK arrive for life-changing treatments. Every day, young lives hang in the balance as patients, families and staff battle the most complex illnesses. And every day, the brightest minds come together to achieve pioneering medical breakthroughs that change the lives of thousands of children – and change the world. This extraordinary hospital has always depended on charitable support to give seriously ill children the best chance to fulfil their potential. Without donations, our client can’t help fund ground-breaking research, advanced equipment, child and family support services, and the rebuilding and refurbishment of wards and medical facilities. Their staff help to raise these vital funds for the hospital. A better future for seriously ill children starts with you.

Applications will be reviewed on an on-going basis and they reserve the right to close the role prior to the closing date, should a suitable applicant be found. Therefore, you are encouraged to apply right away, to avoid disappointment.

Due to the large number of applications they receive, they are unfortunately only able to inform shortlisted candidates of the outcome of their application. If you do not hear from them within two weeks of the closing date, please assume that you have been unsuccessful on this occasion. If your application is not successful, they hope that you will not be discouraged and will still apply for other suitable vacancies in the future.

You may have experience of the following: Developer, Web Developer, Drupal Developer, Web Engineer, Software Developer, Software Engineer, Website Developer, Front End Developer, etc.
