Fundraising Manager

Position: Foundation Manager (Philanthropy Lead) 
Location: Godalming, Surrey 
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 37.5 hours per week 
Salary: £42,000 to £47,000 depending on the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate

About the role: 

The Foundation Manager will secure philanthropic support for the School through face-to-face solicitations, regular giving appeals and legacy campaigns with our alumni, parents and other friends of Charterhouse. 

Responsibilities: 

- Cultivate and secure major gifts, primarily in the range of £10,000 to £250,000 
- Input into and support the strategic direction of the department and deputise for the Foundation Director 
- Build upon and implement the School’s major gift fundraising strategy 
- Lead the solicitation planning process for those major gift prospects 
- Help build a growing and sustainable prospect pool, especially with a view to identifying new major gift potential donors for a future multi-year campaign 
- Contribute to the development of the Case for Support for the School’s capital projects, legacy and bursary fundraising programmes 
- Work together with the Foundation Officer (Database & Giving) to manage an annual programme of appropriate regular giving opportunities 
- Promote legacy giving to all those prospects approached individually and through larger appeals 
- Work closely with Foundation Office colleagues to ensure that the School’s regular giving and major gifts programmes are complementary to one another 
- Deliver an appropriate recognition and stewardship programme for all of donors 
- Cultivate relationships with all past, current and potential donors with a view to securing their on-going or future support either financially or by endorsement to others 
- Support the development and implementation of communications and events in relation to fundraising and alumni relations 

About you: 

- Graduate or equivalent experience 
- Record of accomplishment in major gift fundraising, including the application of major gift fundraising techniques 
- Good communication (especially listening) skills, with a very high standard of written English 
- Preferably experience in putting together compelling ‘bespoke’ proposals and other fundraising literature 
- Excellent IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office 
- Knowledge of relevant compliance standards such as fundraising regulation and data protection 
- Current, clean driving license 
- Ideally a minimum of three years’ working in a professional Development Office 
- Proven record of securing six figure gifts beneficial 
- Understanding of fundraising in the independent school’s sector desirable 
- Experience of Raiser’s Edge software would be an advantage
