We are looking for an experienced Communications Manager to join our in-house team to work on our growing number of programmes and media activities. Your role will be to oversee the planning and implementation of communication strategies and activities for specific Foundation initiatives, in collaboration with the Communications Lead and other team members.

The Ellen MacArthur Foundation is a charity with the mission to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. The Foundation works across five interlinking areas:

  • Learning – inspiring learners to re-think the future through the circular economy framework
  • Business & government – catalysing circular innovation and creating the conditions for it to scale
  • Insight & analysis – providing robust evidence about the benefits and implications of the transition 

  • Systemic Initiatives - transforming key material flows to scale the circular economy globally
  • Communications - engaging a global audience around the circular economy

Role and responsibilities:

  • Develop integrated communications plans, in line with the Foundation’s overarching communications strategy, and implement these working closely with internal teams
  • Manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including media, funders, and influential organisations / individuals, including developing joint strategic communications plans and overseeing their implementation
  • Create written content as required (including articles, press releases, newsletters, audio/video scripts, marketing materials, social media content etc), for a variety of target audiences, for distribution across the Foundation’s communications channels, in collaboration with programme teams
  • Collate and interpret data on results and impact of communications campaigns, and applying findings to help shape strategy
  • Manage marketing budgets
  • Demonstrate a hands-on willingness to get the job done by working with and learning from all areas of the Foundation

Person specification:

  • A relevant degree and minimum 3-years’ experience in the Communications field in a business/agency or NGO
  • Experience of planning and managing communications campaigns
  • Relationship management experience
  • Excellent written communication skills - with experience of writing for different audiences; we will ask for previous pieces of work to evidence this
  • Evidence of ability to work on a number of different tasks simultaneously and delivering against deadlines
  • Organised and able to work on own initiative
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the circular economy and related topics is desirable
  • Ability and willingness to learn and communicate the thinking behind the circular economy
