About Our Client

Our client works in partnership with people with a learning disability, and all their services support people to live life as they choose. Everyone wants a purposeful job - to do something really meaningful. Working for our client can give you that. You’ll have opportunities to develop as a person, colleague, leader and activist. They want to make you feel inspired to reach your potential.

Their work includes;

  • Providing high-quality, flexible services that allow people to live as independently as possible in a place they choose
  • Providing advice through our help lines and web sites
  • Campaigning for the changes that people with a learning disability want

About the Role:

Are you a skilled Media/PR Manager looking for a new challenge? Do you thrive on managing successful teams, constantly improving ways of working, and securing impactful national media coverage?

This a fantastic opportunity to develop a new team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day media function, ensuring that the small but dynamic media team has the skills and tools they need to deliver a first-class service to journalists. You will also be strategic about building and protecting our client’s brand to the public, while positioning people with a learning disability firmly at the heart of the news and consumer agendas.

You will always be on the look-out for a news hook or story and will work with a range of internal stakeholders to advise on media opportunities as well as potential risks

To be successful in the role you will need to be a proactive and enthusiastic communicator, with strong management experience. You will know how to understand and translate complex issues and make sound reputational judgements. You will know the media landscape inside and out and have confidence building relationships with journalists across a range of sectors, from education to health, social affairs to business.

Key to the role will be addressing the lack of visibility of people with a learning disability in mainstream media, so you’ll need a passion for the cause and plenty of determination.
