About the role:

HEO User Researcher:

Your job will involve collecting insights about the needs and experiences of public digital service users to help your team understand the people who use the services they provide and so to build better government services

To be successful in this role, you will have experience of user research methods, understand when to use and apply these methods and when to involve your team. You have the ability to analyse problems, using appropriate data and methods and can clearly explain and present your findings with colleagues across the organisation. Working collaboratively with designers and developers to push forward research into action is a key part of the role.

Senior User Researcher:

As a Senior User Researcher you will shape how they scope, design and carry out research activities with users to help their teams build a deep understanding of the people that use their services. Your research will inform policy, strategy, service, content and interaction design, ensuring the services work well for users and achieve their policy intent. You will plan and lead research on larger teams and more complex services, working with product managers and service designers to help shape service propositions, whilst working directly with the Head of User Research to align user research activity.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you understand and can apply user-centred service design and delivery practices in a government context. You have an awareness and understanding of how digital technologies are changing user behaviour, whilst being inclusive in your research of diverse users, choosing appropriate methods to deliver accessible outputs. You have the ability to think strategically and understand the wider implications and long-term impact.

The Digital, Data and Technology Directorate is the in-house IT division for the organisation. They are currently recruiting several roles to ensure the directorate’s teams contain the right blend of skills, experience and knowledge to take their major transformation programme forward.
