Fundraising Events Manager

HOURS:  Full Time - (37.5 hours per week) Flexibility with hours required due to business needs. This role involves some evening and weekend work.

SALARY:  £28-£32K – Depending on experience

ANNUAL LEAVE:  25 days per annum

REPORTING TO:  HEAD OF FUNDRAISING & COMMUNICATIONS

Overview of the Role:

This is an important post in an expanding fundraising function with significant potential for growth. It is an exciting time for The Meath Epilepsy Charity, as we look to significantly grow income streams which will help us continue to support people affected by complex epilepsy and associated learning difficulties.

This is a fast-paced, creative role embracing all supporters.  The main purpose of the role is to suggest, plan and deliver a varied calendar of tailor made events from concept to delivery for a variety of supporters with post event analysis.   It is important to be able to plan both traditional and innovative events that raise awareness and grow the income from this fundraising stream.  The events will vary in size from small through to very large and many will be high profile prestigious events.

The post holder will be self-driven, responsible for planning, organising and delivering planning, budget control, engaging donor and stakeholder support is essential as is an ability to do post event analysis and P & L.

You must be confident at liaising with stakeholders and supporters from start to finish including planning and managing, promoting and delivering events on the day.

The post holder will working alongside our committed supporters and volunteers.  It is a busy and demanding role often with conflicting deadlines as there will always be multiple events being planned and delivered. 

There will be stretching annual targets to achieve with the support of the fundraising team.  The post holder will be confident at Event budgeting and accountability, promotions and initiatives contributing to the Charity’s business development.

You will represent and promote the work, vision and purpose of the Charity whilst also promoting and supporting the wider work of the Meath.

Overall you will be passionate about the values and mission of The Meath, and committed to ensuring they can continue to deliver vital support to our residents.

You will have a passion and skill for fundraising and supporting and developing volunteers.   This is an exciting opportunity for you to build on your fundraising and volunteer management experience, and truly make your mark in this rapidly expanding charity. 

You must be able to develop and engage stakeholders and both internal and external support.

 An ability to be able to speak confidently publicly is essential as well as an ability to engage with all kinds of supporters and stakeholders.

 Work must be GDPR compliant at all times.

 Awareness of Health & Safety, Risk Assessments and guest welfare is essential.

Our Team:

A small but very focussed, fun and supportive team aiming to create a significant impact.  The post holder won’t be fazed by pitching in across our fundraising and communications team; picking up the phone to supporters, or crafting compelling communication that inspires our fundraisers and generous donors, but will equally turn their hand to whatever needs doing in the office for the greater good of the residents at The Meath.

This is an exciting and varied role, and you will have the opportunity to provide support and work collaboratively with colleagues across the broader fundraising team.

The organisation encourages cross departmental working throughout the fundraising team so you will also gain exposure to other income streams.

Special Conditions:

  • To hold a full UK driving licence and be prepared to travel as required.
  • The role of an Events Co-ordinator is not always 9-5pm and the post holder must be willing and able to work weekends and evenings when required.  Time off will be given in lieu within two months of working extra hours.  This will be at a mutually convenient time agreed by the Head of Department and to tie in with department and business needs.
  • Whilst this role requires a person with initiative who can work independently it is also critical that they are a “team player”.
  • This is a role requiring a DBS check.
