Project Service Adviser
Citizens Advice Basingstoke, founded in 1961, is a local independent charity and a member of the national association Citizens Advice. Our objective is to support the local community by providing free, independent and impartial advice to individuals and families in need, valuing diversity, promoting equality and challenging discrimination and harassment.
You will provide advice and support primarily in 2 distinct areas, as described below. On occasions you may also be asked to assist with other advisory services. Client contact will be face to face, online and over the telephone.
Universal Support: Help to Claim (US HTC)
Citizens Advice Basingstoke will shortly start delivering a new service called Universal Support: Help to Claim. This service will assist people through the process of making a claim for Universal Credit and help them to be ready to cope with a new payment system.

Local Welfare Assistance is a service funded by Hampshire County Council. It provides telephone-based advice, information and guidance not only to those in crisis, but also to any household that may need assistance in averting an impending crisis.
Key tasks will include:
- interviewing clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills with a view to gaining a full understanding of their problem(s)
- researching in-house resources and communicating relevant information to clients, while at the same time encouraging them to make their own decisions
