Our client is excited to introduce this new role to its ambitious fundraising and direct marketing team. Their vision is to bring health and enrichment to every life affected by cancer. To do this they are expanding their team to focus on effectively managing their database and supporting the team with reporting and insight.

Data is important to all aspects of what our client does, from communications and marketing through to guiding their operational and strategic decisions - by enabling the charity to know their supporters (be they funders, donors or fundraisers) and develop activities, products and campaigns that resonate and deliver impact.

The Data Officer is a key member of the Fundraising and Marketing team providing support with day-to-day transaction and data processing as well as database administration, monitoring fundraising data use, data protection compliance and providing oversight and support to Individual Stewardship programmes. The role offers a great opportunity to make the most of your technical and people skills, to work with colleagues across a range of professional disciplines in a supportive environment and at the same time make a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.

The successful applicant needs a mix of exceptional attention to detail, an eye for efficiency, a passion for problem solving, the tenacity and communication skills to facilitate change and the ability to see the broader impact of developments. Previous experience in the charity sector is important due to the importance of understanding sector compliance and GDPR.

The role requires practical experience working with a fundraising database, preferably Raiser’s Edge, familiarity with direct marketing data and knowledge of the processes for good supporter relationship management. An understanding of data protection legislation and a commitment to good data practice is also essential.

Our client is the leading UK charity specialising in a whole person approach to helping people live well with the impact of cancer. The way in which they help people is known as the Bristol Whole Life Approach which provides a powerful combination of physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual support that is designed to help anyone affected by cancer, at any stage of the disease. They do this through residential courses, group sessions and 1-2-1 complementary therapies. They work in partnership with many major healthcare providers and their services are underpinned by evidence based research.
