Nottingham Trent University (NTU) has a reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative and effective higher education institutions.
In 2018, we celebrated 175 years since our founding college first opened its doors in 1843 – one of the highlights of an exceptional year, having just climbed 18 places to become the 16thUK university in The Guardian University Guide 2019, and having been named both University of the Year 2017 by Times Higher Education and Modern University of the Year for 2018 by the Good University Guide.
We also won a prestigious gold rating for our teaching excellence, sector-leading student analytics and social mobility work, continued to be one of the greenest universities globally, and our researchers received numerous accolades for their impactful and innovative work.
Increasingly, our research has a global impact, with 90% judged to be world-leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised. It drives innovation not only in our curriculum but also in the businesses, community organisations and public sector enterprises with which we partner.
Each year, the University works with around 30,000 students from more than 125 countries, and has links with many businesses and organisations worldwide, which enables it to be in the top ten UK universities for students taking year-long work placements. More than 94% of its students come from state schools, and 25% come from households with an income of less than £15,000.
The University boosts the UK economy by more than £900 million a year and generates 10,500 jobs. NTU is also one of the most popular UK universities for undergraduate degree applications, with around five applications for every place available. 96% of our graduates are employed or in further study six months after leaving. Our alumni include CEOs of large global organisations, Turner Prize winners, international film directors, senior lawyers, TV presenters and politicians.
Our graduates, friends and partners have always played a critical role in realising our ambitions. As we make progress with our major philanthropy campaign, and prepare to launch a new alumni and community engagement strategy, it is a particularly exciting time to be joining the Development & Alumni Relations team.
Reporting to the Director of Development & Alumni Relations, and working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, the Head of Alumni Relations & Regular Giving and University colleagues, this is a career-defining opportunity to shape the direction of DAR’s operations, and ensure the University is future-ready.
The ideal candidate for this position will have significant experience of data management and expertise with supporting the use of digital channels in the context of a fundraising/marketing function. S/he will be a strong nurturer of people with the ability to lead and inspire a team, while retaining a focus on performance. Crucially, the successful candidate will have a proven ability to influence at the highest levels, thereby championing the needs of our alumni and supporters internally and ensuring collaboration towards the University’s collective mission of outstanding alumni and donor engagement.
Strategic thinking, creativity, and a passion and commitment to the aims and objectives of Nottingham Trent University are all prerequisites.
