Stonewall has led the way in challenging the discrimination and inequalities faced by lesbian, gay, bi and trans people since 1989. Our work has brought about changes in the law, education, armed forces and in employer organisations in the UK and around the world, creating significant improvements in the lives of countless LGBT people.

Join us our Director of Membership Operations and you’ll play a key part in securing our goal of acceptance without exception. You’ll take responsibility for our Diversity Champions programme, which advises and guides member organisations on creating LGBT inclusive workplaces and practices. The programme’s 800 members in the UK and 150 members around the world, come from all sectors, including banks, law firms, local authorities, NHS Trusts and the armed forces.

You’ll develop and implement a five-year strategy for the programme and take responsibility for operations of the programme, including finance, people, systems, policy and business development. This will enable you and the team to meet the 2018/19 target income of £2.38m, which represents around 24 per cent of Stonewall’s income for the year and helps fund our work on LGBT inclusion in the UK and globally.

Reporting to Executive Director level and with a team of 31, you’ll develop sector-specific strategies for B2B/B2C corporates, Small and Medium Enterprises and companies and organisations across other sectors. You’ll ensure the smooth running of Stonewall’s workplace programmes, including collaboration across Wales, Scotland and England, and leading our partnership to deliver the programme in Northern Ireland in partnership with The Rainbow Project Northern Ireland.

You’ll ensure accurate and compliant forecasting and reporting, and create and implement policies and procedures which ensure that delivery of our programmes is efficient, effective, compliant and aligned with our Global Diversity Champion programme. You’ll also oversee the development of the UK Workplace Equality Index which benchmarks best practice, along with the team’s work to produce workplace resources and events, and, increasingly, bespoke work with Stonewall’s Diversity Champions.

Your experience of managing the operations of a membership-based charity or project will include implementing systems, policy and procedures related to finance, people, governance, risk, data and project management. You’ll have experience of developing strategy for client-facing programmes in the UK and/or internationally, be a strong commercial thinker with exceptional financial acumen, have experience of managing budgets and financial modelling, and be effective at embedding change within directly or indirectly managed teams.

Interviews to follow on Thursday 7th March 2019.
