Position: Philanthropy Officer
Type: Permanent, Full time
Location: NW London
Salary Band: Band F, Level 1 (£32,666-£37,862)
Department: Philanthropy and Partnerships

This organisation put people affected by MS at the centre of everything we do, and it’s this commitment that unites them across the UK. Their vision is a world free from the effects of MS.

Their ultimate goal is to find a cure, but until then, they will do all that we can to enable people with MS to live life, knowing that they do not have to face MS alone.

Now is an exciting time to join the Society. Their investment in research is to double over the coming decade and they have developed a research-focused national appeal, Stop MS Appeal, which is well underway and is a major focus of their work. This will allow them to invest millions in ground breaking research, all with the goal of ending MS as we know it.

The charity have big aspirations and they need to attract brilliant new people to help them achieve their ambitious goals.

About this job

The  Society is delivering some of the most exciting major gift fundraising in the UK, including a rapidly growing giving club and they are looking to appoint a talented Philanthropy Officer to join their ambitious team.

The Philanthropy team has grown significantly over the past few years and are focused on raising £1.9m each year from approximately 80 donors. They have a highly committed Appeal Board, which brings together high profile, engaged and well-connected individuals passionate about the cause and their ambitious plans for the future. They also have a dedicated Advisory Board who support their Giving club activity.

Internally, they have fostered a close relationship with their Trustees, who support their activities as much as they can. They also have an experienced Executive Group, most of whom have been with the Society for many years. They understand the value of major gifts fundraising to the organisation and help to ensure their teams are as supportive as possible.

In particular, they work hand-in-hand with colleagues in their Research team.

The Philanthropy and Partnerships team works within an energetic and creative fundraising department, where they try to break down barriers as much as they can to collaborate to ensure supporters get the very best service from the charity.

In this role, you will identify, engage with and steward a mix of cold and warm major donors and prospects. Working with the team and autonomously, you will be expected to secure significant gifts to help them deliver services to people living with MS, as well as raise funds for a pioneering research programme. They would love to appoint an individual with a proven track record of securing major gifts who is keen to develop within a growing Philanthropy team.

This is a great opportunity for a philanthropy fundraiser looking to build upon existing experience, make their mark within the sector and be involved with the Society's public launch of a £100 million Stop MS Appeal during 2019. They are looking for a dynamic and confident major donor fundraiser to maximise income growth from HNWIs.

They offer 27 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays), a travel loan, supported developmental opportunities and various other benefits.

Flexible working arrangements including home working/compressed hours will be considered.

Closing date: Monday 18 January at 9:00am
Interview date: Tuesday 5 March
