Head of HR and Talent

A fantastic opportunity for a talented Human Resources and Learning & Development professional to be the face of all people related matters for a charity dedicated to delivering accommodation, advice and support services for young people facing homelessness.

It’s part of our client’s ethos that they expect their staff to do the exceptional and they are looking for a truly exceptional HR leader to take responsibility for all people based activity within the organisation.

About the role:

As Head of HR and Talent you will act as an integral part of the senior management team, contributing to organisational projects and planning, as well as ensuring that future staffing demands of the business will be met. The role has responsibility for people related matters across the Group which includes the Charity and the Community Interest Company (CIC) which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Charity.

As a confident leader you will develop, motivate and coach the HR team, ensuring the successful operational delivery of HR activity. You will also provide advice and support to the Leadership Team in building a reputation of professional credibility and respect for the leadership team across all areas of the organisation.

About You:

As Head of HR and Talent you will have at least 5 years experience of managing a team of HR staff, with a recognised relevant professional degree, ideally CIPD and its associated membership. You will also have experience of delivering functions across the employee life cycle and be competent to deliver the Learning and Development strategy and associated plans. Strategically focused, you will be expected to create strategic HR and Talent plans that deliver the Organisations vision, purpose and strategy.

Exposure to TUPE and confidence in handling TUPE situations is a must, as well as a strong working knowledge of employment law issues. You will be familiar with best practice in redundancy processes and experienced in coaching managers through this and leading where necessary. With strong learning and development skills, you will be expected to write and deliver management development training across the Group.

You will be a great communicator, be able work collaboratively with a variety of people and have the ability to stay calm within a pressured environment.

Although not essential, experience of operating in a hybrid commercial/not-for-profit environment, ideally with a charitable focus is desirable.
