RSCM Council Members (Trustees)
The Royal School of Church Music, the RSCM, is an international educational charity committed to promoting the study, practice and improvement of music in worship and its place in church life.
Collectively, the RSCM is united in a desire to ‘be the heart and home of church music’, and Christian ethos underpins everything we do.
To support us in our mission to sustain music within churches and communities we now invite expressions of interest, either directly or by recommendation, for key roles on our Board of Trustees, the RSCM Council.
We are particularly interested in hearing from those with relevant experience in:
• Marketing (particularly Digital and/or Strategic Marketing)
• Business Skills
Under the rules of the RSCM’s governing document, our current Vice-Chair retires from Council in September 2019. This role is crucial in deputising for the Chair of Council, The Very Reverend Dr John Hall and supporting the Senior Management Team. In addition or in conjunction with the skills described above, we would also be pleased to hear from anyone - especially where he or she has significant business experience - who is interested in taking on this further role as part of joining the Council.
There are four meetings of Council per year, typically in March, June, September and December. Three of the meetings (approximately three hours each after a sandwich lunch), are usually held in London; the June meeting may take place at Sarum College in Salisbury (RSCM’s administrative centre) in the form of a two-day meeting with dinner and stopover. Some trustees make themselves available for additional sub-committee meetings which take place between Council meetings.
The roles are voluntary positions, however, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
