Home-Start UK is the national charity at the centre of the Home-Start federated network of local charities providing home and community based support for families and children.  Home-Start is a leading volunteer led family support charity, working with 28,000 parents and 60,000 children every year.  Volunteers are vital in delivering our services.

Head of Volunteering
Based in Leicester or home-based
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
36 hours per week

Home-Start UK is seeking to build on this platform of experience by developing Home-Start UK’s volunteering strategy, building and maintaining our suite of volunteer training programmes and increasing the range of volunteering opportunities across the Home-Start network. To do this Home-Start UK is now seeking a Head of Volunteering to be our strategic lead for volunteering within Home-Start UK and across the Home-Start network.

This is a senior post and we are therefore seeking an individual with extensive experience of best practice in volunteer management and of developing volunteering training, programmes, policies and procedures. 

You will need to be able to lead strategically, bringing people with you from all areas of the organisation. You will be confident in coaching and supporting colleagues about volunteering and be comfortable in developing the relationships you need to position yourself as an expert advisor in this area.

You will be self-motivated, resilient and capable of developing and delivering a volunteering strategy, engaging colleagues, building partnerships and working closely with fundraising colleagues to take this work forward.

Proactive and well organised you will be a superb communicator with excellent presenting skills, including the ability to represent the charity in the media and a wide range of stakeholder events.

This post can be based at our Home-Start UK office in Leicester or home-based (with regular travel to the Leicester office).
