Press Officer

London (Holborn)

£31,400 - £33,400 per annum

Permanent

Join our client to communicate some of the biggest issues facing their members, healthcare and the work of anaesthetists - the largest group of doctors within UK hospitals.

They are looking for an experienced, motivated and creative Press Officer, who will be responsible for driving both proactive and reactive media work for the College. As well as building and maintaining relationships with key journalists and media titles, a key element of the role is to identify both College activity and healthcare issues and turn this into compelling media stories to engage their target audiences and demonstrate the College’s responsibilities. From briefing media and organising interviews, to developing and pitching regular and targeted media ideas, op-eds and blogs, this is an opportunity to demonstrate your talent in delivering relevant and timely news coverage across print, broadcast and digital media.

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in a similar role within a press office, newsroom or other communication team and will be able to demonstrate success of implementing campaigns and writing media releases in the UK health environment. You will have excellent knowledge of UK national and regional media, as well as a genuine interest for health communications. It is also crucial for you to have the ability to translate and deliver scientific information comprehensively, to a range of audiences.

Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you are highly proactive, have strong IT skills, an eye for detail and the ability to prioritise your workload effectively to hit tight deadlines.

Short-listed applicants will normally be provided with at least 48 hours’ notice to attend the panel interview.

Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications, they are unable to provide detailed feedback to candidates on their application. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted after the closing date.
