Our client supports people who face disadvantage or discrimination to have a voice that counts. Providing advocacy and user involvement services across England, our client is a growing organisation working with people who are vulnerable or marginalised to raise their voices and have their rights respected.
Position: Peer Advisor
Location: Ipswich/Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
Job type: Full Time Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week or jobshare
Salary: £18,562 to £22,500 per annum

About the role:
Using your own lived experience working alongside Wellbeing Suffolk. You will advise and enable vulnerable groups and individuals to navigate Mental Health processes encouraging individuals that they can help their own recovery both by accessing available services and by taking practical steps themselves. You will also co-facilitate group workshops to encourage vulnerable groups to access the services available and providing practical tools.
The Peer Advisor will provide telephone support to vulnerable individuals and communities and participate at social events to promote services for and to vulnerable groups. Additionally, you will work within set policies and procedures seeking guidance as required to ensure their working practice keep both them and service users safe.
About you:
- Ability to advise and empower people who use Mental Health services in their own recovery
- Ability to facilitate group workshops encouraging vulnerable groups to access available services
- Ability to use telephone, email and other IT systems to provide telephone support to individuals and wider community members
- Ability to understand and implement key policies and guidance such as keeping information confidential and raising safeguarding concerns keeping yourself and service users safe
- Ability to travel across Suffolk
-knowledge of Wellbeing Suffolk
You may have experience of the following: Peer Advisor, Patient Services, Expert Patient, Mental Health Services, Support Coordinator, Care Coordinator, Helpline Advisor, Support Worker, Social Worker, Care Worker, Case Worker, Activities Coordinator, Workshop Facilitator, Policy Advisor, etc.
