Head of Service (Charity)

Over the past years our client has seen substantial growth in its impact. Based in Westminster they work hard for homeless young people, badly housed families and others in need. Last year over 1200 people used their different services which include a 32 bed hostel for young people and temporary move-on flats.

Position: Head of Homeless Services for Young People
Location: Westminster, London

Salary: £45,000 per annum

About the role:

There have been real improvements in these residential services for young people, but they know they face challenging times. Young people in Westminster face some of the highest housing costs in the country, a challenging labour market and rising levels of violent crime. Some of those they support come from care or broken relationships which can limit access to support which most of them can luckily take for granted. Some are unaccompanied children seeking asylum, safety and support in the UK.

Our client is looking for someone who can develop and change the organisation’s response. Your primary role will be to lead and improve the residential services but they also hope in time you will help shape how all their services effectively respond to the needs of young people who are homeless or risk falling into it. They want to develop a creative strategic response.

About you:

Of course they need someone with experience of working with young people and children but more importantly is the ability to lead and inspire a team. Our client needs someone driven by values, who can think creatively and act strategically. A senior manager who can draw out the individual qualities in each member of the team. They know they will need to work collaboratively if they are to achieve the ultimate ambition of helping young people meet their aspirations.
