Nature Friendly Schools Project Manager (Grants)

Newark

£35,000

4 Year Fixed Term Contract

35 Hours per week

Our client believes that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of wildlife in their daily lives. They aim to ensure that a wildlife-rich natural world contributes to the health and wellbeing of our society.  One of the ways we can achieve this is by putting a wildlife rich natural world at the heart of education and learning. When they have succeeded, people of all ages and all backgrounds will have the chance to learn about wildlife and the value of the natural world because these will be central to our – and society’s - approach to education.

They are taking forward a new opportunity to lead a consortium of organisations to deliver the Nature Friendly Schools Project. This large-scale project (£6.3m) is one of three, within the Children and Nature Programme, a flagship programme for the 25 Year Environment Plan, led jointly by Natural England, Defra and Department for Education and with a budget of £10m. The project will deliver natural environment interventions for schools with an aim to improving pupils’ mental health and wellbeing, school engagement, plus their physical health, behaviour, attendance and care & concern for the environment.

As Project Manager (Grants) you will act as the figurehead and take the lead on this project and the central NFS management team. Reporting to the Head of Grants, you will review, develop and manage strategies to establish the project as an examplar within its field and ensuring all delivery partners and consortium members adhere to funder grant conditions and agreements.

They are looking for an innovative and inspiring Project Manager with grants management experience. You will be confident with methods of assessing grant applications and have the ability to review their effectiveness. You will need to have strong team and relationship management experience along with having highly developed analytical skills.

Our client is a grassroots movement of 800,000 members, 43,000 volunteers and 2,800 staff across the UK dedicated to their vision and driven by their beliefs.  There are 36 Trusts in England, four in Wales and Trusts for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Alderney and the Isle of Man. They have an unmatched presence on the ground helping to inspire millions of people about wildlife every year and managing nearly 100,000 hectares of land. Being part of this movement enables you to make a real difference and they look for people who share their values.

They value courage, respect, integrity, trust and responsibility.  Whilst they are passionate in promoting their aims, they are not judgemental, and are inclusive.  Their society is divided, and they want to reduce, not increase, that division.

The Trust is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
