The Team Manager will work with Programme Managers to ensure the protection of women and children’s rights. The post holder will represent Advance in partnership meetings and deputise for Programme Managers as required. She will work closely with partners such as the Police and Health agencies to improve services for survivors of Domestic Abuse. She will have responsibility for supporting and line-managing, including performance management, domestic violence frontline workers to provide a high quality front-line service to women experiencing violence against women and girls while ensuring that Advance’s values, policies and procedures are embedded into service delivery. The post-holder will also take the lead in day to day crisis situations and provide day to day advice and guidance on casework, safeguarding and information sharing concerns. The Team Manager will oversee and improve the duty system while also overseeing rota systems including ensuring there is regular attendance at the MARAC and specialist court.

Staff and Resource management duties

  • Support and line-manage domestic violence frontline workers to provide a high quality front-line service to women experiencing violence against women and girls while ensuring that Advance’s values, policies and procedures are embedded into service delivery
  • Recruit, induct, train, develop and performance manage the domestic abuse frontline workers, volunteers and students including appraisals, supervision, and probation reviews to ensure that work is of a consistently high quality
  • Create rotas and oversee the duty system to ensure all aspects of the service are adequately covered
  • Ensure the service is adequately staffed, partake in the duty system, and provide cover where necessary
  • Provide day to day guidance and advice to staff on practice matters and case management to ensure staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to agreed codes of practice and safe methods of work, and that clients receive a service that is appropriate to needs, risk and safety
  • Provide support to front line staff in cases where there are adults at risk or child protection concerns, liaising regularly with the Programme Manager or other relevant managers, consulting with and informing them as required
  • Ensure line managed staff work within the organisation’s case management and performance management framework. This includes supervising client casework to meet agreed standards and to ensure organisational objectives are translated into individual work plans with clear and realisable targets.
  • Assess referrals and partake in administrative duties as required

 

 

Business and programme planning and implementation

  • Support Programme Manager with the planning and implementation of new service developments and contacts, and participate in multi-agency working parties and focus groups, as appropriate.

 

 

  • Support the Programme Manager in the development and maintenance of strong relationships and management of Brent partnerships to ensure effective service delivery, co-operation, communication, and puts service users at the heart of the partnership activity.
  • Oversee and deliver training to health practitioners including to the CCGs and GPs
  • Attend meetings representing Advance and acting professionally at all times and promoting the service
  • Deputise for Programme Manager when required.

 

 

Quality assurance and contract compliance

 

 

 

  • Oversee necessary administration, office management systems, IT and database systems to maximise efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Work with the management team at Advance to support and ensure high quality casework and case management is achieved to the Safelives Leading Lights standard.
  • Ensure that service targets are met, and that internal and funder monitoring requirements are achieved
  • Oversee preparation of reports for case conferences, MARAC and court, and attend as necessary
  • Ensure feedback from service users is used to improve services and is captured throughout the programme of support at a range of intervals and through a range of methods (group work, one to one, questionnaires etc.) working closely with the Evaluation and Engagement Officer at Advance and all partners.
  • Work with the Programme Managers and Director of Domestic Violence Services (DDVS)  to accredit and re-accredit the service when applicable.

Management and leadership

  • Ensure staff training and development needs are regularly evaluated and that appropriate training, coaching and learning opportunities are provided.
  • Ensure that the Advance Brent Domestic Abuse team meets regularly and staff members are kept updated with developments in the service through a range of mediums.      
  • Assist the Programme Manager  in developing and managing partnerships to deliver new and existing services in line with women’s needs
  • Develop and deliver training programmes and presentations on the service and other key learning areas to partner agencies while ensuring women’s voices are heard in the process.
  • Assist in the provision of an on-call management cover of the out of hours staff rota system, in collaboration with Project Managers as part of a rota system.
  • Support Programme Manager to manage day-to-day financial transactions for Advance Domestic Abuse  service including petty cash
  • Collate and check all payroll data related to project staff, providing monthly returns to the Business Support Office as necessary.
  • Work closely with the Programme Manager and Director of Domestic Violence Services (DDVS)  to enable their engagement in the programme, communicating developments and holding regular review meetings to engage their support and skills to oversee the programme’s success.
  • Support Programme Manager to review the delivery of operational procedures and ensure best and most appropriate use of staff and volunteers to meet needs of the service to support capacity issues and ensure coverage of the programme that maximises joint work across teams and minimises duplication.

 

 

General

  • Working as part of the Management Team, liaise with staff at all levels, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure delivery of organisational services and priorities, as directed.
  • Uphold the rights of women, children and young people who have experienced domestic violence, and proactively assess the needs and safety of children and women to ensure that any risks/needs identified are addressed, having full regard to Advance’s Safeguarding Children’s policy and Safeguarding Adults policy.
  • Be responsible for personal learning development and keep up to date on research, relevant legislation, policy and practice, and other literature relevant to the role
  • Be proactive and solution focussed while paying attention to detail.
  • Participate in supervision, training and meetings as required, and assist in the development of services in line with agreed development plans.
  • Ensure proactive and effective implementation of Advance’s Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality  and other policies and procedures and uphold the core values of Advance including keeping records confidential and safe.
  • At all times work professionally and to a high standard and promote the organisation proactively.
  • Work across teams and undertake such other duties, appropriate to the grade and nature of the work, as may reasonably be expected.
