Director of Advancement Services
University of Cambridge

£71,404 - £90,411

In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a supplement to the salary range of up to £100,000 for a 5-year period. Any such supplement would be awarded on the basis of a demonstrable history of exceptional achievement and is entirely at the discretion of the University.

The University of Cambridge seeks an ambitious, hard-working individual for the role of Director of Advancement Services. The post-holder will be responsible for providing world-class gift and information management, financial and data systems to underpin the fundraising and alumni aspirations of the University.

The University of Cambridge is a global leader in education and research – a centre of excellence for over 800 years where people, ideas and achievements continue to transform and benefit the world. It has produced more Nobel Prize winners than any other university.

In autumn 2015, Cambridge launched its most ambitious fundraising campaign to date. The ‘Dear World… Yours, Cambridge’ campaign for the University and Colleges aims to raise £2bn to attract the brightest minds, create the most inspiring environment for world-class research and enable Cambridge to continue to respond to the world’s biggest challenges.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Advancement Services will provide an information, intelligence and technology infrastructure to the campaign. S/he will have a major personal impact on this world-renowned university by providing the overall strategic direction to a comprehensive Advancement Services programme, encapsulating gift management, information services and finance programmes and teams, with the goal to increase efficiencies, productivity and fundraising success across Collegiate Cambridge.

We are looking for a candidate with extensive leadership experience in major gift fundraising, prospect development, business analysis development services, and/or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, preferably in higher education.

The successful candidate will have strong project management skills, extensive supervisory experience and a demonstrable ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external constituency groups. S/he will have experience of managing the finance function in a dynamic and complex organisation, a high level of computer proficiency including research databases, relational databases and other technology tools as well as a demonstrable ability to manage sensitive information with the highest degree of confidentiality.

This new senior leadership role provides a rare opportunity to join one of the world’s leading higher education institutions as part of a dynamic and innovative team, delivering upon the University of Cambridge’s significant fundraising potential.

This role is based in central Cambridge.
