Use your leadership skills and experience to help us inspire a new generation of active citizens

Young Citizens helps to equip and inspire young people to take their place in society as engaged and active citizens. Formerly known as the Citizenship Foundation, we're an education charity which has been making a difference for almost 30 years; helping young people develop the skills and confidence to play an active part in society and to understand the laws, rights and responsibilities which affect its citizens.
We believe passionately in democracy as the best means to create a fair, just, and equal society. In the current climate - with democracy under pressure from many directions - our work has never been more important.
Our current Chair is stepping down after 11 years on the Board (five as Chair) and we're now looking for a committed, energetic individual to help steer the charity through a time of exciting opportunity and development.

The successful candidate will share our passion for the empowerment of young people as active citizens. They'll also have a successful leadership record as a trustee or in a senior executive role in the charity sector, the public sector or in a commercial or social enterprise venture. With a strategic and creative mindset, they will also have a sound understanding of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship and good governance.

Young Citizens is fully committed to equality of opportunity and diversity to ensure that we reflect the full breadth of young citizens we aim to support. We warmly welcome applications from all suitably-qualified candidates. However, as black and minority ethnic communities and women are slightly under-represented on our board, we would particularly welcome applications from these groups.

The closing date for applications is 9am, 28th January 2019.

For a full information pack or to have an informal conversation about the role, please contact Brigitte Stundner of TPP Recruitment on executive@tpp.co.uk or 020 7198 6060.
