Hours: Part-time, 0.6 FTE (3 days a week)

Location: Oxford (with options for flexible working)

Salary: £36,170 pro rata (£21,700)

Terms: 2-year fixed term contract

New Internationalist is looking to appoint a dynamic and self-starting Fundraising and Engagement Coordinator. You will have a passion for independent journalism and international affairs, and proven experience of building networks and relationships through fundraising, communications or marketing. We need your help to engage and involve our reader-owners and supporters with our work and future plans, and to help us secure finance in the emerging and exciting field of media fundraising.

About New Internationalist

Established in 1973, New Internationalist publishes a multi-award winning magazine, a range of books, and is founder of the Ethical Shop. The company is run by a collaborative, friendly and forward-thinking team. Operated as a workers co-op with a flat management structure, we live our values, confronting inequality and promoting freedom of expression. Established as a not-for-profit equal-pay co-operative and based in Oxford (UK), our independence has been our blessing for over 40 years, enabling our journalism to respond to the world as it is, not as a proprietor thinks it is or should be. It’s important to us that our analysis provides the facts in context; brings the experiences of those communities affected to light; and demands bright, bold ideas of ways to change things for the better.

Job Summary

As Fundraising and Engagement Coordinator you will be responsible for ensuring all our supporters feel involved with our work, and for inspiring others to support New Internationalist. Understanding both the diversity and importance of our co-owners, Friends, subscribers and other supporters to our future, you will plan and implement an engaging programme of communications for existing networks, as well as reaching and inspiring new donors. You will research the potential for other forms of fundraising and agree strategic direction on this with New Internationalist colleagues, identifying key opportunities, aligning these with external funders and producing compelling requests for financial support. An excellent administrator, you will set up and manage internal fundraising plans, including prospecting and reporting systems, and maintain accurate records of donations and grants.
