Policy Adviser

A London based National Academic Body is looking for a temporary Policy Adviser to join their team for roughly 4 - 6 weeks.

This role is ideally for 5 days a week, however, they can be flexible if you'd like this to be 3 or 4 days per week.

The organisation will need some help whilst they are doing some work for a central Government Department which examines the histories of major government policy areas. The aim of the Policy Histories is to provide historical context for policy development.

One of these areas is science policy. As part of the work, they are producing a detailed timeline of major science policy milestones from the early 20th century to the present and then commissioning experts in the field to write analytical pieces which develop and draw out certain themes from the timeline.

They are in need of someone who can jump in and finish off work on the science policy timeline itself and then work with senior experts to develop and scope out the analytical pieces and do any research/analysis for them that might be needed. You would then help in drafting the final report (essentially bringing the timeline and expert analytical pieces into one document) and developing a policy seminar with a small group of policymakers and senior experts in the field.

The ideal policy adviser will have:

• Knowledge of science policy history.
• Excellent policy analysis and research skills.
• Experience of working in a professional environment and interacting with senior academics and policymakers.
