Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF)

Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF) is a national charity committed to providing life-transforming services that enable disabled people increase their independence and achieve their goals in life.  With over 80 years of expertise, we are at an exciting stage of our development and are looking to appoint new committed trustees to help shape our future.

This offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for you to be part of a leading charity and deciding how it is managed and run.  These are very exciting times at QEF as we are developing our new state of the art care and rehabilitation centre which will provide vital support for adults with physical and learning disabilities, including rehabilitation from acquired brain injury and stroke.

Trustees make a meaningful contribution to our clients and staff, as well as influencing our charitable objectives you will be able to contribute to the working lives of our dedicated 280 employees and 300 volunteers.  They carry out a diverse range of roles to provide the highest standards of client care and services.  We value collaboration, communication and innovation that will make a real difference to the lives of many disabled people.

Your skills, knowledge and experience will be called upon to shape the organisation and support the CEO and senior management team to develop its services and strategic goals to a new level.

We are particularly keen to have a diverse board of people committed to enabling independence for disabled people and who will assist us in reaching far more than the 5,000 people we support today.  You will have the confidence, passion and breadth of vision to demonstrate empathy with our vision and values.

We are looking to appoint new Trustees who may have broad experience of the disability sector, gained from:

·         NHS/Social Care commissioning

·         CQC registered care delivery

·         a clinical background

·         personal experience

Or you may have professional expertise gained from other sectors coupled with energy and enthusiasm.  We are particularly interested in hearing from people with backgrounds in:

·         quality management

·         finance, audit and risk

·         HR/organisation development

·         fundraising (including the use of digital media)

·         charity retail

·         IT or property management

As a Trustee you will be an ambassador for QEF and assist in raising awareness for the work that we do, building constructive relationships with stakeholders and supporting our ambitious fundraising plans.

Trustees are required to attend 6 Board meetings a year as well as Board committees in line with their expertise and interests.
