Team Leader - Parent Child-Home Programme, 35 hours per week, £32,000 per annum, South Yorkshire - Fixed Term until end February 2021

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new early years home learning programme in South Yorkshire which is part of a research project and the South Yorkshire Futures programme (led by Sheffield Hallam University). It is funded by the Education Endowment Foundation.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Team Leader to set up the Parent-Child Home Programme (PCHP) in South Yorkshire and then train, supervise and coordinate a team of Area Coordinators and Home Visitors to deliver the early years home learning programme. A key element is working with the research team.

The PCHP has been delivered in America for over 50 years, working one-to-one with families who face significant life challenges. The PCHP model is based on twice-weekly home visits, for at least 46 weeks, by home visitors.  It addresses a range of outcomes for parents whose children are at risk of starting school below the expected level, by offering free books and toys and modelling how to create a rich home learning environment.

You will work closely with the relevant local agencies and your team of three Area Coordinators to recruit 320 families for the Randomised Control Trial; you will then oversee the implementation and delivery of the intervention to 160 families across South Yorkshire. In your area you will manage a team of three Home Visitors to deliver the home learning service to 40 families. You will train and support the Area Managers and (in your area) Home Visitors to support parents. You will work flexibly and should have a suitable home working environment.

The successful candidate must have experience of managing a complex project. Experience and knowledge of early years’ education is required as is experience of supporting families and recruiting and training staff. You should have experience of building good relationships. Outstanding organisational skills, excellent written and verbal communication and commitment to equality of opportunity are essential.
