Full Time (part time considered)

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity enables families who have a child with a life-threatening or terminal illness to make the most of time together, providing expert, practical and emotional support, where they need it for as long as it is needed. This Sunday Times Top 100 Not-For-Profit organisation is looking to appoint a Trusts and Statutory Fundraiser to generate and maintain trusts and statutory income against an agreed budget; and research, identify and cultivate potential new regional and national funders for revenue funding.

This is an exciting time for an experienced fundraiser to join Rainbow Trust as we are an ambitious charity with a clear vision for growth and a strong sense of values.  Your proactive, collaborative approach to achieving goals quickly and accurately will be recognised in our high-performing organisation. Reporting to the Trusts & Foundations Manager, you will take responsibility for developing and maintaining strong relationships with current donors, and working across the organization to develop accurate, creative and inspiring propositions and packages of support.

Working in partnership with our Family Support Managers to develop and maintain relationships with funders you will support them in meeting reporting and monitoring deadlines. Skilled in bid writing techniques you are a clear and factual communicator who enjoys negotiating and working within established guidelines. Having managed a trusts and statutory fundraising programme, you will be comfortable leading project teams to generate and develop ideas into high quality funding applications, and preparing, presenting, and monitoring all grant applications and tenders to statutory bodies.

As a quick learner who responds positively to pressure, you will thrive working at a faster-than-average pace whilst maintaining quality and accuracy.  With a proven track record in meeting challenging income targets, you will have experience of producing a range of communications for trusts and foundations, high value donors or equivalent. A persuasive multi-tasker, you will provide the highest level of donor care, including bespoke and creative stewardship for existing supporters, and creating and developing new working relationships.

You understand, through your awareness of trends and changing legislation in relation to statutory income generation, that using your expertise to overcome obstacles is essential. Applications will be particularly welcome from those who have managed volunteers.  With a commitment to your own continuing professional development, your confident use of IT (including MSOffice) and databases will support your careful, analytical working style.

There will be a requirement for some flexibility in hours and UK travel.

For a detailed job description visit www.rainbowtrust.org.uk or call 01372 220073. To apply please send your CV and a covering letter highlighting why your application should be considered above others to us via the link.

First interviews will take place in our Head Office in Leatherhead on the 4th and 6th of February, with second interviews to be held on the 11th and 12th of February. We will only contact successful applicants. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this post.

Company

Rainbow Trust is a charity that provides emotional and practical support to families in England who have a seriously ill child. The charity is based in Leatherhead in Surrey and has nine teams operating across the English regions. Founded in 1986, the Trust has 100 employees and 350 volunteers. Its annual income is £5.1m.

Rainbow Trust was created by Surrey woman Bernadette Cleary who started the charity after she helped two close friends through the terminal illnesses of their children and realised the tremendous strain such families were under. Since then around 12,500 families have been helped. The charity supports families with children aged 0-18 years and they can receive support from the moment of their child’s diagnosis.

The charity has offices in Leatherhead, Durham and Manchester and nine teams of family support workers - in Central London, County Durham, Essex, Manchester, Southampton, Surrey, Swindon and West London.

When a referral or request for help is received, a team manager visits the family to assess their needs. Assistance may include providing transport to medical appointments, practical help in the home such as cooking, sitting with the sick child to provide the parents with a break or taking out siblings. In 2014/15, the charity supported 1,958 families, 16% more than in the previous year.

2014/15 also saw the Trust launch new drop-in groups around the country for families to meet others in the same boat. New groups for parents and bereaved siblings also provided opportunities for friendship, support and respite. In 2015, the Trust’s first Neonatal Support Worker was appointed and they helped 37 families in total.

The charity also has extended its hospital in-reach service to Cumbria, Durham, Manchester and Swindon. This service provides important information, advocacy and sign-posting to families during their child’s stay in hospital, regardless of whether they are likely to require the ongoing support of the charity’s family support workers.

Rainbow Trust’s strategy is to continually review existing care and explore new geographical areas for expansion. It also plans to focus on donor acquisition and major donor income and invest in the management and leaderships skills of its staff.

Corporate partnerships are a major part of the Trust’s strategy and partners have included Deutsche Bank, Hanover Dairies, clothing retailer Evans and investment manager, Invesco Perpetual.

The Trust prioritises flexible working, family friendly policies and offers numerous internships. In 2016, Rainbow Trust was named by the Sunday Times as one of the best 100 not for profit organisations to work for.
