Job Details

The children helped by Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity (RDMCC) face an unknown future living with a serious illness, sometimes rare or even unknown to their doctors. Their family can also feel alone and lacking the support and reassurance, they need. RDMCC is a small charity with big aspirations! Having secured the patronage of HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and reorganised the fundraising and communications team, it is looking to grow and develop substantially in the next five years.

Over the last twenty-five years, we have funded more than seventy specialist Roald Dahl Nurses across the UK. The nurses are a lifeline for the children and for their families and play a critical and complex role. They work directly with the patient and family whilst providing a link between them, the consultant and the hospital.

Position:Chief Executive
Location:Amersham, Buckinghamshire
Salary:Circa £70,000 & benefits

The charity is at an exciting stage of its development. As our nursing community has grown, so has the demand for specialist children’s nurses. In the future, we intend to focus on specific conditions for 1-2 years, raising the national profile of the area of focus.

We are seeking an ambitious Chief Executive who will inspire and lead a motivated and skilled team into that future. We want a leader with energy and vision, who will communicate the work of the charity to a wide audience and is able to engage as naturally with high-profile supporters as with the charity’s beneficiaries. This ability to communicate, with both passion and cool headedness where appropriate is vital.

Our new CEO will need to be a good manager of people, a motivator, with a good working knowledge of the charity and healthcare sector. A commercial/business background would be useful too, as would experience of fundraising and PR. Ambition, motivation, communication and deft management skills are essential.

Published closing date: Thursday 31 January
