Deputy Director of Development (Philanthropy)
University of Warwick
In the region of £75,000 including bonus
The University of Warwick is one of the most successful young universities in the UK. With a dynamic and forward-thinking culture, and a reputation for combining innovation with the relentless pursuit of excellence, it is firmly established within the top ten of all UK university rankings and currently 51st in the world. Its Development Office is on a similar trajectory. With the appointment of Matt Ferguson as its Director of Development at the start of 2018, the team has been challenged to raise the funds needed to take the University and its students to the next level.
The position of Deputy Director of Development (Philanthropy) has been created to help lead an expanded and restructured Development Office. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing a new big gift fundraising strategy that maximises fundraising income and helps to build a culture of philanthropy at the University of Warwick.
Through their interactions with the University’s leadership, including those in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, and their role in the Development Senior Management Team, the Deputy Director has the opportunity to define the direction of fundraising at Warwick University. The post holder will manage their own portfolio of major gift prospects and will lead the fundraising team, currently 13 staff, in growing philanthropic income to at least £12 million per annum.
To succeed in this role, candidates will have extensive experience of undertaking fundraising in a high performing team, ideally in a university environment. This will have included involvement in Major Gifts, Regular Gifts and Direct Marketing.
