The Organisation

StreetDoctors is a network of student healthcare professionals (trainee doctors, nurses and paramedics) across the UK united by a passion to tackle the issue of youth violence. StreetDoctors volunteers equip young people at highest risk of violence with emergency life-saving skills and the confidence to use them. They discuss the medical consequences of violence and challenge attitudes, treating young people as responsible people capable of helping others. The work is both potentially life-saving and life-changing for the young people who attend.

The Role

As StreetDoctors Chief Executive you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the charity, working closely with the board of trustees and central support team to ensure that the ambitious plans for growth, as laid out in our Strategic Plan 2018-2022, are realised.

The Person

You will be confident and articulate with a good understanding of the youth sector and the complexities of tackling the issue of youth violence from a public health trauma-informed viewpoint. As an inspiring leader you will be able to engage and motivate StreetDoctors young healthcare volunteers, our central support team and wider funders, partners and stakeholders. The successful candidate will be practical and focused, able to turn strategy into action and willing to do what it takes to get a job done. There is a need to be passionate about volunteering and social action, able to articulate the value of young people reaching out to other young people to address the harm caused by youth violence.
