Play Worker
Our client is a National charity which support people affected by imprisonment. They work in prisons and communities across England and Wales to provide practical support to prisoners' children and families, and to prisoners themselves.
Position: Play Worker
Location: HMP Drake Hall, Stafford (Commutable from Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent, Market Drayton and surrounding areas)
Job type: Part time, Permanent
Hours: 7.5 hours per week (Saturdays)
Salary: £3,412.50 (FTE £17,062.50)

About the role:
Working as a member of the Family Services team at HMP Drake Hall, with a focus on delivering high quality engaging play activities for children visiting the prisons to see their loved one and to ensure Pact provides a safe and welcoming environment, and support to friends and families visiting the prison.
To develop and maintain positive relationships between prisoners and their loved ones, with the aim of reducing the likelihood of prisoners reoffending through supporting and maintaining family contact. The service will provide support to ensure that children, families and prisoners are treated with respect and dignity.
The service will also help ensure families are able to gain greater access to support and early help within their local community and services and families work together to decrease the chance of intergenerational crime.
About you:
To be successful in this role you will initiate and offer a programme of age appropriate and culturally sensitive play activities (including arts and crafts, games and quiet activities and encourage imaginative play) within the prison visit hall to ensure that children feel comfortable, safe and secure while visiting their parent in prison.
In addition, you will promote opportunities for children to engage with their mother / father who is in prison in an appropriate way during a visit and family days. As well as promote a relaxed atmosphere in which children may feel confident and develop respect and consideration for each other.
You will work with the Family Engagement Manager and prison staff to regularly review all health and safety aspects of the play area and adhere to best practice in child protection and ensure Pact's safeguarding policy.
