London Wildlife Trust has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Marketing and Communications with experience of database use and operation to join our team at our head office in Westminster. We are at an exciting time, and are investing in our Marketing & Communications function and are looking for an inspirational candidate with exceptional leadership skills to join our team.

The post holder will be a strategic thinker with a track record of creation and delivery of marketing and/or communications strategies. This key role has a responsibility for promoting our vision for a London alive with nature, where everyone can enjoy and experience wildlife and provide direct support to all income generating activities and develop the Trust’s brand.

The successful candidate will work within the Development Team, which also includes teams for Fundraising and Consulting at London Wildlife Trust. The role will involve:

  • Holding responsibility for London Wildlife Trust’s marketing and communication channels including website, press, social media and wider digital presence through a proactive marketing and communications strategy
  • Keeping up to date with best practice in marketing and communications, comply with relevant legislation and regulation, to work within the Trust’s policies and procedures and identify and mitigate risks.
  • Providing leadership, direction, support and line management to the Marketing and Communications team.
  • Developing a brand that reflects and supports the London Wildlife Trust’s strategic vision.

The candidate will have a genuine desire to work in the conservation sector and a commitment to London Wildlife Trust’s aims and values. They will: 

  • Show demonstrable marketing and/or fundraising communications expertise with experience working with and alongside fundraising teams.
  • Be experienced working with the UK media, with extensive demonstrable knowledge of UK national, regional and local media and how to leverage them to get key messages out to the public
  • Have outstanding communications skills, both written and verbally and have the ability to tailor communications to different audiences.
  • Have branding knowledge and the ability to articulate the importance and value of brand to an organisation. With demonstrable experience of developing, protecting and promoting a brand.

London Wildlife Trust manages more than 35 nature reserves across the capital that are exemplars of urban conservation land management and which greatly benefit the local communities that use these sites. The Trust delivers projects focusing on protecting priority habitats and wildlife species in London and works to influence policy makers to support this work. The Trust engages London’s diverse communities through access to our nature reserves, volunteering programmes and education and outreach work.
