Then this is the role for you! The Kids Network is looking for a Chair to lead the Trustee Board, support the organisation to succeed and lead on governance and legal obligations for the charity. We’re looking for someone with governance experience not necessarily as a Chair), a positive outlook and open and confident leadership style.

Role description for Chair of The Kids Network

Purpose of the role
To lead The Kids Network Trustee Board in ensuring the effective performance of its governance responsibilities.

To work in partnership with The Kids Network Founder to support her to achieve the objects set for the organisation

To ensure there is an effective relationship between the Trustee Board, the organisation, the staff, volunteers and other stakeholders.

Main duties

Ensure the Trustee Board fulfils its statutory responsibilities.

Ensure the Trustee Board sets an overall direction (strategy) for the organisation with clear objectives and desired impact.

Ensure the business of Trustee meetings is dealt with, and decisions, when required, are arrived at, and recorded, and their implementation monitored.

Ensure the organisation’s financial dealings are prudently and systematically accounted for, audited, or independently examined, and publicly available

Help promote The Kids Network to a potential funders, volunteers and beneficiaries.

Work to embed The Kids Network culture and values across all levels of the organisation.

Ensure the organisation has appropriate procedures to comply with current legislation and good practice, including employment, health and safety, equality and charity legislation.

Work in consultation with the Founder to recruit Trustee Board members with relevant expertise and experience.

Key qualities

A knowledge of and commitment to the work and values of The Kids Network.

Understanding and experience of charity governance and statutory responsibilities.

Understanding and knowledge of key safeguarding legislation, practice and guidance.

Supportive and confident leadership style.

Be committed to diversity and inclusion throughout the organisation.
