Head of Philanthropy
Are you the person to lead our newly created Philanthropy team?
The Head of Philanthropy role is vital to us in achieving our mission to eradicate type 1 diabetes. In this newly created role you will lead on the development and delivery of the philanthropic giving strategy and further develop our fundraising programmes aimed at current and new major donors.
You’ll work closely with the CEO and Director of Research Partnerships in identifying key prospects and how they should be stewarded. You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of major donors, nurturing relations and securing five and six figure gifts.
You’ll also work closely with Clarence House and our president Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall. You will also host our VIP and major donor supporters at key events including our Sugarplum Dinner which will be taking place in November 2019. The dinner which is organised with one of our major donors since 2013 has raised over £1.5million for type 1 diabetes research.
To date our engaged major donors have helped us to fund a significant amount of our research programme, deliver our Research Roadmap and fund a significant amount of our research programme. We recently received a £3 million donation to fund further research into type 1 diabetes.
We’re an international organisation too. So you’ll be liaising and sharing prospects with colleagues based in America, Australia and Canada. You’ll have the opportunity to take significant donors to the JDRF Annual Mission Summit event in America.
Your experience will be vital in driving the future success of the fundraising strategy, particularly in relation to identifying new opportunities. You’ll have previous experience in delivering results and engaging with Major Donors and their networks. You’ll be an experienced philanthropic fundraiser and previously managed a high performing team.
You will have excellent relationship building and entrepreneurial skills. You will also have superb written and verbal communication skills, be a skilled networker and have a thorough understanding of the UK philanthropy market.
In return we offer you flexible working, generous annual leave entitlement, season ticket or bike loan and an employee assistance programme. We have strong, positive values and friendly culture where we support you in developing your career aspirations.
