Associate Director, Evelina London Fundraising

Competitive Salary

2019 will mark 150 years since the original Evelina Hospital for Sick Children first opened its doors to care for children and young people in the heart of the Capital. Today, Evelina London Children's Hospital and community services support thousands of children and their families each year and we have ambitious plans to be able to change the lives of more children in the years to come.

The Birthday year will be our opportunity to celebrate 150 years of Evelina London. We will build brand awareness and engage staff, patients, their families and the wider supporter community in our fundraising efforts as we prepare for our future expansion. At the end of 2019, we will launch our Evelina London Capital Appeal to fund the development of a new hospital. The anniversary year will ensure we have the foundations in place to make this appeal a success.

Already an exceptional children’s hospital and the first in the UK to be rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, Evelina London will build on its growing reputation by expanding its clinical, research and care facilities over the next ten years. Supported by Guy’s & St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and Guy's and St. Thomas’ Charity, our ambition is to deliver the largest fundraising Campaign in Evelina London’s history, and one of the most ambitious ever undertaken in the UK Hospital sector.

In order to support this ambition we are creating a new role, Associate Director, Evelina London Fundraising, to drive the current philanthropic fundraising for the hospital and the next Evelina London Campaign to expand current facilities.

The Role

  • Oversee the hospital’s dedicated fundraising team and activities and will also take personal responsibility for the Evelina London Campaign, which is expected to raise £60m in philanthropic income over the next 10 years.
  • Work closely and effectively with the Hospital’s Director and senior leadership team to communicate a compelling story to current and prospective donors to develop and deliver the Evelina London Campaign.
  • Put in place an active programme to expand the pool of potential donors including Major Gifts prospects.

The Candidate

  • Demonstrable experience of successful fundraising or client relationship management. This should include building and managing senior-level relationships and soliciting financial support.
  • Experience of team management and an understanding of how to motivate and inspire high quality fundraisers and supporting operations and services staff to achieve stretching targets.
  • A personal track-record of achieving financial targets.
  • Proven success generating income from trusts & foundations and/or High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) is highly desirable, as is experience of proposal writing and case for support development.
