International Campaigns and Policy Officer

Employer
Stonewall
Location
188 – 192 St John Street, London, EC1V 4JY
Salary
£25,615
Closing date
4 Jan 2019

Over the last thirty years, Stonewall’s campaigns have helped secure legal protection from discrimination for lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) people in the UK. Our success has made us Europe’s largest LGBT, and a source of advice, guidance and support for activists and organisations trying to end discrimination for LGBT+ people around the world.

As International Campaigns and Policy Officer, you’ll forge links with LGBT activists globally and ensure their insight, experience and perspectives are the foundation of our global programmes. By developing networks and conducting desk research, you’ll enhance our knowledge base of countries, activists and LGBT human rights issues and keep the International team up to speed at all times.

You’ll work closely with the Head of International Campaigns and Policy, supporting the delivery of our global events and developing programmes that engage UK and global policy makers and advocacy targets. Communicating about the programmes both internally and externally, will also be part of your remit, involving drafting blog posts, policy briefings and being the first point of contact with our Communications team.

To help us maximise the impact of our international work, you’ll need at least two years’ experience of human rights advocacy or global campaigning and of working with networks of activists in other countries. Your practical knowledge of the social, cultural and legal context of another region or country, will be underscored by first class communication and research skills. Able to relate to a wide range of audiences, you’ll be a confident communicator, able to reach and engage people who may not have English as their first language. An ability to work in French, Spanish or Russian would be an advantage.

Please complete and return an application form by 4th January 2019 at 9.30am to help us achieve our mission of acceptance without exception around the world.

Please note some international travel may be required as part of this role.
