Over the last thirty years, Stonewall’s campaigns have helped secure legal protection from discrimination for lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) people in the UK. Our success has made us Europe’s largest LGBT, and a source of advice, guidance and support for activists and organisations trying to end discrimination for LGBT+ people around the world.

As International Campaigns and Policy Manager, you’ll take on our strategic campaigning and advocacy overseas as well as manage our policy work. Focused on Sustainable Development Goals linked to advancing LGBT+ inclusion and socio-economic rights, you’ll liaise with key national, regional and international humanitarian and development organisations and engage them on LGBT+ related policy.

Reporting to the Head of International Campaigns and Policy, you’ll identify and shape campaigning and advocacy targets and develop our international policy on LGBT+ inclusion in education, employment, health and related development issues. You’ll help communicate those policies too, supporting with research, analysis and report writing, and ensuring other Stonewall teams working with global employers are aware and engaged by the international department’s work and how it can link in with their programmes and priorities.

It’s a varied workload in a dynamic and often complex environment, so you’ll need significant experience of working in a global policy, campaigning and advocacy role and in-depth knowledge of both the international development sector and international human rights. Fully conversant with the Sustainable Goals Agenda and policy area, you’ll understand the role of the private and public sector in advancing human rights.

You’ll be representing Stonewall at high profile events and dealing with a broad range of people at all levels, so you’ll need to be personable, empathetic and have the skills to communicate complex policies to a wide range of audiences. Your ability to write and speak Spanish, Russian and/or French will be a true asset.
