Today, 12 children and young people in the UK hear the shocking news they have cancer. CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families, and provides them with clinical, practical, emotional and financial support. You can be a part of helping them cope with cancer and get the most out of life.

Being part of CLIC Sargent goes beyond helping families limit the damage cancer causes to young lives. We put the children and young people we support at the heart of everything we do, and we are driven by the belief that it’s our privilege to work with them.

At CLIC Sargent, we look for people who want to turn their passion, expertise and integrity into an exceptional career.

Could you be part of Team Young Lives?

We're looking for a Head of Financial Accounting and Controls to lead our financial accounting, payment and income operation teams. Reporting into the Associate Director of Finance, this is an exciting and integral role for the charity. You will be responsible for:

  • leading the statutory accounting and audit process;
  • maintaining and developing effective financial controls across the charity.
  • tax and treasury management;
  • ensuring efficient processing of payments and income and high standards of customer service is delivered

The role also offers the opportunity for delivery of strategic project work across the charity.

We are looking for a qualified accountant, with relevant experience of leading financial accounting teams or someone coming in from an audit background.

We want someone with strong management skills and an aptitude for coaching and developing staff. You will be forward thinking, with a continuous improvement mind-set. You will be highly personable, with strong relationship building skills – you need to be confident at engaging with a range of people and leading a team. You’re also highly motivated and pragmatic, with strong attention to detail and the ability to delegate and stand back and see the bigger picture.

If this sounds like you, then we want to hear from you!

What we offer:

In return for your commitment, we offer a great reward package, which includes generous annual leave entitlement and pension scheme, season ticket and bike loans, as well as flexible working arrangements and great development opportunities.

We’re always looking for talented people from all backgrounds, to join our fight for young lives against cancer. We particularly want to encourage people from under-represented groups to step forward and apply to work or volunteer with CLIC Sargent.

CLIC Sargent is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
