Together for Short Lives is a leading UK charity for children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions. The charity’s vision is to ensure that the 49,000 children and young people with life-shortening conditions in the UK have lives that are as fulfilling as possible. They work with families and the brilliant people and services that support them – in hospital, in children’s hospices and in the community – to ensure that no child is left behind.

Already a c.£3m turnover organisation, Together for Short Lives has real aspiration for growth, both in terms of their size and the impact they make. Under the leadership of the new CEO, the charity has begun to re-focus their work, to have the biggest impact on children and families.

Charisma Charity Recruitment is delighted to be supporting this wonderful organisation which helps make a difference to so many seriously ill children in their search for a Director of Fundraising to help lead the next phase of the charity’s development.

The new Director of Fundraising will join a small but passionate and energetic team, providing inspirational strategic leadership across all areas of fundraising. You will also play a key role alongside the Director of Communications in their ongoing work to strengthen the charity’s brand and sharpen its message.

To succeed in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop staff at all levels
  • Evidence of building motivated teams committed to the vision and values of the charity
  • Experience in key forms of fundraising and proven track record in delivering results up to £3m
  • Proven track record in building relationships with prospective funders and corporates with a view to securing new partnerships for the charity
  • A well-developed understanding of the dynamics of business and financial management within a large organisation.

You will have an understanding of the great importance of palliative care for children and young people. We are looking for an individual who will bring a hunger for success combined with flair and creativity, as well as the determination to make a difference to the work of Together for Short Lives and the lives of children and young people in the UK.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person. To apply please submit your CV and a detailed supporting statement that fully addresses the essential criteria as set out in the Person Specification to info@charismarecruitment.co.uk quoting our reference JO1599.

“Now I have been in my new post for a week, I feel I must write to you to commend you on both the recruitment process I have just undergone and the personal support I have received. I could not have expected a better experience of a recruitment process - and even had I not been appointed I would have written in the same vein.
