Chief Executive Officer Family Holiday Association

Circa £70,000 per annum plus benefits · London

We all know the difference that time away can make to how we feel and how we act. A simple break away can create precious memories, strengthen family bonds and develop a new sense of optimism, but for too many families it is simply out of reach.

At the Family Holiday Association we are dedicated to providing opportunities for families struggling with issues such as disability, severe and sudden illness, bereavement, mental health issues and domestic violence to get that critical break.

Funded entirely by the generosity of our growing number of donors, supporters and fundraisers, we’re delighted to have helped many thousands since our inception in 1975, including 4,137 families and their children in the last year alone, many of whom have never experienced a break away from home.

The benefit and joy this brings to them is immense, and having recently strengthened our board with several new trustees, we are now looking for a new Chief Executive Officer who will relish the opportunity to bring these benefits to far more families, sharing our ambition to help twice as many by 2020 - and who will have the vision, enthusiasm and strategic skill to drive the charity’s long-term success as an inspiring champion of the cause.

Leading a team of 14 dedicated staff, there are four key elements of the role:

  • Leading and managing the organisation
  • Fundraising and income generation
  • Working with the Board
  • Promoting the Family Holiday Association

Who we’re looking for:

Naturally you’ll need excellent leadership and organisational skills, as well as the financial acumen and wide-ranging fundraising expertise to ensure the organisation’s continued independence and growth, through your sound management of a comprehensive and sustainable financial strategy.

With an enthusiastic and can-do attitude, you’ll be as adept at delivering robust governance and efficient operational processes as managing and motivating multi-functional staff and working closely with the board on long-term strategic issues.

As the public face of the association, you’ll also be a natural communicator who can build successful relationships with supporters and stakeholders at all levels, seek out and capitalise on opportunities to expand and promote the role of the charity, and someone who can wholeheartedly advocate for our mission in the press, at conferences, with government departments, and throughout all of our material and activities, winning support from all kinds of audiences, inspiring action and generating wider recognition of the benefits of our work within society.

If you would like to receive an information pack for this role, with full details of how to apply, please send your CV to executive@harrishill.co.uk or call Jenny Hills on 0207 820 7323.

Closing date for applications: 9am Monday 7th January 2019
