Retail Area Manager

The Retail Area Manager will work under the direction of the Branch Trustees and will be responsible for the day to day retail activities carried out by the RSPCA Cambridge and District Branch.

Working collaboratively with Branch staff, volunteers and Trustees you will oversee the efficient and effective running of all Branch retail sites in order to support the vital animal welfare work carried out by the Animal Welfare Team.

A proficient retail professional, you will bring experience of successfully supporting remote retail teams and of hands-on work in a charity retail environment alongside raising the profile of the Branch locally via the retail network. Working within a large team, you will actively seek new ways of working which will increase income and/or reduce costs in the future.

You will lead by example and at all times maintain the excellent standards expected from the RSPCA, being supportive and sympathetic to the aims of the charity.

We are looking for a team player educated to at least A-Level (or equivalent) with grade C or above in GCSE’s (or equivalent) English and Mathematics, who has a proven track record of increasing and sustaining sales growth in the charity retail sector and has knowledge and experience of leading a team across multiple sites.

You will have previous experience of working remotely and possess excellent communication and customer care skills. Your IT skills will be outstanding, and you will have the ability to use your initiative regularly whilst working with a busy and dynamic team.

Part-time (3 days per week). This post will initially be on a 6 month contract which we hope we will be able to convert to permanent, subject to achieving performance targets. There may be a possibility of a full-time post if the retail network expands in the future.
