There are over 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK. Almost two thirds have a disability and one third rely on others for help, making stroke one of the biggest causes of disability. They are continually working to improve the lives of stroke survivors and their families who deserve the very best treatment and care. They deliver amazing, life-changing support to over 60,000 stroke survivors and their families each year. They also fund research to find better treatments, campaign for better stroke care and help people understand how to spot and prevent stroke. This work is made possible by more than 4,000 talented volunteers and staff, their fantastic supporters and their strong relationships with the stroke clinical and research community. Position: Accounts Assistant
Location: Northampton
Job type: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: Circa £20,500 per annum

This is an exciting time to join this charity in a newly established finance team at their Northampton Resource Centre. Following a recent modernisation programme and a strategic review of their finance operations, they are relocating their finance team from London to Northampton and have a number of exciting career opportunities.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounts Assistant will ensure the accurate processing of banking activity to enable accurate reporting and decision making.

As Accounts Assistant you will have a good level of education in English and Maths and be willing to train and continue your professional development, having previous experience of working within a busy finance environment. As part of the finance team you will have experience of posting banking transactions and be able work effectively with technology and IT systems to complete tasks and have strong Excel skills. You will have the ability to communicate effectively and be able to focus on delivery and work to agreed deadlines, as this is crucial to this role along with adhering to process and controls.

You will have an enquiring mind with an openness to new ideas and ways of doing thing and be organised in how you work. As part of the team you will be able to demonstrate an understanding and commitment to their corporate values and be committed to the principles of equal opportunities and diversity. Whilst being a team player you will show evidence of helping others.

Having an AAT or equivalent level qualification or working towards one would be an advantage, as would experience of credit control and using a finance system such as PS Financials.
