Media & Communications Officer

Once upon a time there was a storyteller, one of the greatest storytellers in all the land. This storyteller knew how to captivate any audience they encountered, those with the attention span of a goldfish and a scrolling habit, even the most cynical journalist or busy politician. What was the secret to their success? This storyteller knew the power of the stories they told of children and young people with cancer, and the honour it was to tell them.

Sound like this could be you? We're looking for two amazing people to join our merry team.

CLIC Sargent’s communication teams have big ambitions, which means being braver and more creative than ever before. As a result, we’re expanding, and we need great people to help achieve those ambitions.

Position: Media & Communications Officer x 2
Location: Bristol or London Office
Job type: Full time, Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: circa £30 to £32k (London) or circa £28 to £30k (Bristol)
Benefits: In return we offer a competitive salary, impressive benefits, tea, cake or granola bars (whatever floats your boat) and the opportunity to be part of one of the most exciting charities around.

Closing Date:21 December 2018
Interview Date:7 January 2019

About you:

You'll have experience of working in a busy press office or lively social media management and you'll be as comfortable building great relationships with families or young people as with journalists, celebrities or colleagues across the charity.

You'll get a real buzz from seeing how you can help change the system and make stuff happen for young cancer patients. You'll be unflappable, friendly, determined and have loads of creative ideas on how to get our stories heard by many different audiences up and down the UK.

Like all great storytellers you'll be happy sharing these powerful stories across a range of channels whether it's crafting something for insta, Twitter and Facebook, writing amazing media releases, delivering some awesome internal comms or briefing a colleague before they appear on the BBC Breakfast sofa.

We like to think there'll be a stampede for this fantastic job, so we reserve the right to close the advert early to make sure we're not still shortlisting in March.

We're always looking for talented people from all backgrounds, to join us and help improve the lives of children and young people with cancer and their families. We particularly want to encourage people from under-represented groups to step forward and apply to work or volunteer with CLIC Sargent. CLIC Sargent is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
