The Society for Applied Microbiology (SfAM) is one of the world's leading microbiology societies. It is recognised internationally for the support it provides the microbiological community, the scientific integrity and quality of its academic journals and its accurate and evidence-based communications.
SfAM is the oldest microbiology society in the UK, serving microbiologists around the world, and in partnership with Wiley, publishes five internationally acclaimed journals.

SfAM is seeking to recruit a Treasurer to oversee all financial aspects of the Society, on behalf of the Executive Committee (EC) of Trustees, to oversee the financial administration of the Society, and report to the Executive Committee at regular intervals on its financial health, audit and risk, in line with best practice and in compliance with the Society’s governing documents and legal requirements, to ensure its short and long-term viability.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience of holding a position in a similar area in a mid/large sized corporate or charitable organization. The successful candidate will ideally have a financial accounting background and/or will have knowledge/experience in charity governance, audit and risk management.
All reasonable travel or out of pocket expenses will be covered and would require attendance at a minimum of four meetings a year.
