Communications Officer

Fake news, Brexit, Donald Trump. When it comes to communication currently people seem to prefer shouting to talking. With all of this endless yelling, how is anyone going to hear the voices of young people with cancer and their families? That's where you come in.

Our client's communication teams have big ambitions, which means being braver and more creative than ever before. As a result, they’re expanding, and they need great people to help achieve those ambitions.

Position: Communications Officer
Location: Flexible, North of England
Job type: Full Time, Fixed Term Contract up to March 2020
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: Circa £27 to £29k per annum
Benefits: In return they offer a competitive salary, impressive benefits, tea, cake or granola bars (whatever floats your boat) and the opportunity to be part of one of the most exciting charities around.

Closing Date: 21 December 2018

About the role:

You'll join media masters and creative comms legends in a skilled and passionate team of storytellers. Your job will be to provide communications support for the charity's biggest corporate partnership, motivating thousands of staff on both sides in stores and offices across the UK to keep smashing fundraising targets and fighting for young lives against cancer.

About you:

They don't mind which sector you're from they just want you to have bags of experience delivering brilliant internal and external communications that have achieved real results. In this job you need to be a people person, as comfortable building great relationships with families or young people as with journalists, staff at every level of the partnership from the boardroom to the shop floor and colleagues across the charity.

Your creative communication plans and engagement activities need to turn the heads of people up and down the country and boost the profile of the charity and the partnership. A love of good internal comms is important, as you will also work on a range of projects across the charity, helping everyone from their social workers to their CEO to share news and talk about the amazing work they do. You will need to work hard, take pride in what you do, show a positive attitude and be a great ambassador for their brand. Most important of all is a passion for their fight for young lives against cancer.

They're always looking for talented people from all backgrounds, to join us and help improve the lives of children and young people with cancer and their families. They particularly want to encourage people from under-represented groups to step forward and apply to work or volunteer with them. They are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
