Development Officer (Services for people with a dementia diagnosis and their carers)

Working Hours: Part time 3 days a week, fixed term for 3 years
Pay: £15,600 for 3 days a week, FTE equivalent of £26,000 with employers pension scheme
Annual leave: 15 days a year for 3 day a week contract
Management: Reports to the Chief Executive
Location: The role will involve frequent UK travel predominantly in the North West in the first year, with the option of a combination of remote working and being office based work at Blackheath Offices, South East London


Age Exchange has been improving the health and wellbeing of older people for over 30 years, we specialise in the practice of Reminiscence and in bringing creativity into people’s lives. Following a new partnership with care provider Community Integrated Care (CIC) we are looking to expand, taking our specialist Reminiscence Arts intervention for people with dementia to other parts of the UK outside of London. It’s a really exciting time for us and a chance to achieve our vision of increasing the number of people who benefit from our work.

We are looking for someone to help us reach our goal of expansion alongside ensuring that the quality of the service we provide is maintained. Reporting to the Chief Executive the post holder will be responsible for supporting the development of relationships with commissioners, voluntary sector agencies and local influencers where we are planning to set up new services. Developing referral routes and ensuring there is community engagement in what we plan to do. You will be responsible for ensuring new services are evaluated so we know that the quality of our work is maintained. You should be good at spotting an opportunity, developing relationships and making things happen.

You need to be committed to improving the lives of people with dementia and those who care for them with a belief that creativity can have a positive impact on health and wellbeing.


Role Purpose:
•    To support the expansion of Age Exchange Dementia Services to other parts of the UK
•    To increase the number of beneficiaries of Age Exchange’s Dementia Services
•    To ensure the quality of services are maintained across the UK
•    Carers who use the new services report being more able to manage their caring role
 
Objectives:

The objectives will be to ensure;

•    Age Exchange reminiscence arts intervention is delivered in locations outside of London
•    The number of beneficiaries with dementia and their carers referred to Age Exchange services increases
•    Carers who use the new services report being more able to manage their caring role


Key Responsibilities:
The post holder will be responsible for;
1.    Researching opportunities for the development of Age Exchange dementia services.
2.    Working in partnership with Community Integrated Care (CIC) to identify opportunities for expansion within existing CIC services.
3.    Supporting the development and delivery of proposals to prospective partners.
4.    Developing relationships with local authority/health commissioners and voluntary sector partners.
5.    Contributing to securing funding for new services.
6.    Building relationships with local communities to deliver Age Exchange services in collaboration with them.
7.    Ensuring that new services maintain the quality standards as set out by Age Exchange.
8.    Evaluating new services/partnerships and identifying learning for future development.
9.    Providing performance information for reporting to funders.


Person Specification:
1.    Experience of developing and managing stakeholder relationships
2.    Knowledge of evaluation techniques and principles
3.    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
4.    Ability to influence a range of stakeholders
5.    Ability to find information and bring it together
6.    A track record of contributing to securing funding for services
7.    Strong networking skills
8.    Project coordination and organisational skills
