Lead Technical Architect (IT Systems) 

Our client plays an important role in the property market, underpinning property ownership worth over £4 trillion across England and Wales. Their ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data. 

It is an exciting time for the organisation as they embark on a major change programme that seeks to transform and modernise the services that they provide and how they provide them. 

Technology and data sit at the heart of this programme of work as they look to build the platforms and infrastructure that will support the organisation in the future. 

They are now looking for Lead Architects to join their Digital, Data and Technology Directorate (DDaT) to be a part of this exciting transformation opportunity. 

Position: Lead Technical Architect 
Location: Plymouth, South West, PL6 5WS 
Job type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: Full Time (37 hours per week) or Part Time 
Salary: £51,375 to £58,305 per annum

About the role: 

As a Lead Architect you will be responsible for the development of sub strategies and roadmaps that support the wider IT strategy. You will work with Programme Leads and Senior Management Stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into coherent strategic designs. 

As a senior member of the technical architect function you will be the focal point for solution architects and senior designers. You will play an active role in the organisations Technical Architecture Authority helping to evaluate proposals for their business and technical alignment. 

Their transformation programme is based around modern and emerging technical trends. Examples of which include, but are not limited to public cloud (AWS / Azure) implementations at scale, virtualisation (VMWare) & container management technologies (Docker / OpenShift), micro-service based architectures, adoption of open source software, delivery of secure, robust, flexible solutions using web technologies and frameworks such as Java (Spark & spring-boot), Python, Linux (RHEL / CoreOS), platform services (AWS EC2 / RDS / Lambda), data platforms (PostGreSQL, NoSQL, Enterprise analytics), integration tooling & continuous delivery pipelines (infrastructure as code). 

They are currently recruiting several roles to ensure the directorate’s teams contain the right blend of skills, experience and knowledge to take their major transformation programme forward. These teams are at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide their customers with cutting-edge digital services. 

About you: 

They are looking for effective, self-motivated individuals with a proven track record of technical architecture. You will have thorough knowledge and experience of technology within your specialism. 

You will be a strong communicator and have experience of communicating ideas with clarity and are able to prioritise multiple demands, tasks and projects and can respond quickly to changing circumstances
