Post: Head of Member Services
Employer: National Association of Local Councils
Salary: c£55,000 per annum depending on experience
Status: Permanent and Full-time
Location: London

NALC is the membership body for English local (town and parish) councils. There are around 10,000 councils in England with over 125,000 councillors.  NALC, working with County Associations, helps them meet these challenges through the provision of a range of services to our members, including policy, advocacy, publications, events, learning and professional development.

With a new strategic vision and plan this is an exciting time to join NALC’s leadership team.  NALC is intent on continuing to develop as an organisation, delivering ever more high-quality services and interventions on behalf of its members.

The new post of Head of Member Services will be central to delivering this vision and for ensuring that our members’ needs and interests are at the forefront of everything we do.  As a member of NALC’s executive leadership team, you will be responsible for championing the needs of members at every point in NALC’s development and taking a strategic lead on NALCs relationships with its members and County Associations.  You will work closely with a small team to review and refresh our services and lead on developing new ideas whilst ensuring our existing services continue to add value.

Central to the role is the ability to listen to our members, being intellectually curious and garnering a real understanding of their work and building positive, sustainable relationships, ensuring that member needs are fully understood.  Working closely with the team at NALC, you will translate these into viable, affordable services, bringing about innovation so that NALC increasingly reflects what our members want and need.

As a consummate networker and relationship builder with an excellent track record of developing corporate partnerships, and experience of managing professional staff, you will also be able to contribute to the wider agenda, as a member of the Senior Management team.

If you are passionate about communities and want to use your expertise to support the diverse needs of a wide range of members you might well be the right person to join NALC at what is a crucial time for the organisation.

Closing date: 9am Monday 17th December
Interview date: Monday 14th January 2019
