Invitation to become a voluntary Trustee/Director of Hounds for Heroes.

Hounds for Heroes is a charity providing specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled UK Military and Emergency Services personnel.  Founded in 2010 we have continued to grow steadily and have exciting plans for further development.  To this end we have appointed a Charity Manager and are currently expanding the membership of the Board of Trustees.

We want to build a diverse and inclusive Board.  We are looking for applicants with enthusiasm and commitment to work with a team of others for the benefit of the Charity and its objectives. Knowledge of the charity industry would be welcome but is not essential.

To help us develop a Board with diverse experiences and skill sets we would particularly welcome expertise in the following:

  • Finance
  • Veterinary Medicine – ideally a veterinary surgeon currently in practice
  • Human Medicine

As a member of our Board of Trustees you will be part of the strategic leadership of the Charity, helping us achieve our vision of providing specially trained assistance dogs to our injured and disabled UK Military and Emergency Services personnel, and ensuring that the Trust fulfils its charitable purpose, mission and values. Given the Charity’s stage of development it is important that you are willing and able to commit sufficient time, focus and input to the role.  In return you can expect considerable personal satisfaction, the opportunity to meet interesting people and learn new skills and the chance to be part of a great cause.

Whilst not essential, proximity to HQ near Petersfield, Hampshire would be a particular advantage.

To apply:

Please download our Trustee Brief and Role Description.

Please send a CV and covering letter to “lenflint@houndsforheroes.com”, detailing how you meet the areas of expertise (see above) and the skills you are able to offer. To arrange an informal conversation with either the Vice Chairman or one of the trustees please contact Len Flint at the above email address.

Closing date: 31 December 2018.
