Job Details

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation was established in 1956 and aims to improve the quality of life for people through focussed funding and supporting programmes of work in arts, charity, science and education. The foundation is committed to the future, to the most vulnerable in society and to the value of culture. The foundation has its HQ in Portugal and has branches in Paris and London (the UK Branch).

We are delighted to be working together with the UK Branch to recruit a Research & Learning Manager to join the team. The organisation is looking to continue its commitment to working on UK based projects and is also wanting to work across borders of all kinds which pivots its activities towards a more international perspective; acting locally and thinking globally. Thus opening to potential for beneficiaries beyond the UK alone.

The role:

This essential function will play a key role in providing evidence and engagement to support effective scoping of new areas of work and to realise the foundation's desire to stay at the leading edge of philanthropic practice, sharing what they learn and drawing inspiration from others. The role will involve recruiting and managing relationships with external evaluators, embedding an internal approach to reflection and learning, building on international intelligence gathering and instigating systems to support effective commissioning of research. Working with colleagues to embed and galvanize a culture of learning to enable effective policy influencing. Working closely with the Director as part of the management team this person will also lead on strategic reviews and assist in staff recruitment and development.

The person:

The successful candidate will have substantial experience of research and evaluation management and will have been exposed to diverse research tools and methodologies in addition to being a natural influencer and strategic leader. Intellectually curious and collaborative this person will have a strong insight into the international and national charity sector and will be able bring this learning to bear in clear communication and intelligence gathering. It will be important that this person is able to work well as part of a small team. A strong relationship builder, this person will have a commitment to providing outstanding insight and policy influencing in addition to a fundamental desire to improve the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people.

This role is offered on a 12 month fixed term contract, part-time (4 days flexible).

To apply, please submit your CV in Word format, cover letters are not required at this stage. A full job description will be provided upon registering with Prospectus.
